April Fools’ Day: Virgle, third-graders, Oregon
Tuesday, April 1, 2008
Hooray! We’re colonizing Mars. According to the latest April 1st humor from Google: “Announcing Project Virgle.” Virgle is a joint venture between the Virgin Group and Google. Visit the site: Virgle: The Adventure of Many Lifetimes. And there’s this handy time-bending feature from Gmail: Introducing Gmail Custom Time. Last year I listed a brief history of past Google hoaxes.
For more foolishness, visit April Fools’ Day On The Web.
The following story is amazing: “Cops: Third-graders plotted to attack teacher.” Several kids brought items such as a broken steak knife, handcuffs, and duct tape to school to enact this attack plot. Too bad it wasn’t an April Fools’ joke.
There is also this story about the pregnant Oregon man: “Pregnant Man Photos & Video: Hoax Claim for Thomas Beatie.” Male by gender, but not biologically, I guess.
In other Oregon news, the couple responsible for posting an online ad that offered the contents of a Jacksonville man’s home for free (naturally, a ransacking ensued) have been arrested: “Cruel Craigslist Hoaxers Busted.”
Lastly: “A Ninja Pays Half My Rent.” And that is all for today.
